Robyn Barnard

Robyn Barnard is a Staff Attorney in the Los Angeles office of Human Rights First. She provides support to volunteer lawyers who represent asylum seekers at all levels of the immigration and court system. She also represents asylum seekers throughout the immigration process. Robyn also engages in research and advocacy on issues related to refugee and asylum seeker protection. Prior to this role, Robyn was an attorney for several years in the New York office of Human Rights First. Robyn was also staff attorney at the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies at the UC Hastings School of Law in San Francisco. As staff attorney, Robyn engaged in strategic litigation, research and policy advocacy on behalf of refugees and asylum seekers as well as provision of technical assistance and training to attorneys representing asylum seekers across the country. Robyn worked as a CV Starr Law Lecturer at Peking University's School of Transnational Law in China where she taught JD students in subjects such as International Refugee Law. Robyn received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Melbourne Law School in Australia and is admitted in New York State.
