Jamie Gamble, Senior Counsel and Director of the Justice Index Project, guides on a pro bono basis the NCAJ's Justice Index, including the work of its pro bono research partners. Jamie retired as a litigation partner of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in December 2010. During his 14 years at Simpson Thacher, Jamie focused his practice on areas of Corporate Governance and Federal Securities Law and the investigation of matters posing significant risks to corporate clients. He investigated for clients matters ranging from financial fraud and alleged securities law violations to industrial accidents to information technology and corporate management transformations. He then advised the Boards of Directors and senior management of clients regarding how to address the civil and criminal legal issues arising out of those matters as well as the regulatory, legislative, public relations and corporate governance concerns that invariably accompany them. In addition to his investigative and advisory work, Jamie also represented clients in numerous litigations including federal securities lawsuits, insurance disputes and general commercial matters. On a pro bono basis, Jamie has worked with the Natural Resources Defense Council, with the Brennan Center at NY University Law School on matters relating to election finance and has worked with other organizations on reproductive rights litigation. Jamie is a 1994 graduate of Columbia Law School (JD) and Columbia Business School (MBA "“ Finance).
