Susan Francis

Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service
Deputy Director
Baltimore, MD
Susan Francis is the Deputy Director of the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service, which provides the linkage for thousands of low-income Marylanders to private attorneys who provide essential pro bono representation. Most of the cases placed with MVLS are for basic human needs including custody of their children, saving their housing, securing public benefits, among other critical needs. In her position, Susan oversees all aspects of the MVLS’ pro bono program and also leads the MVLS initiative to expand consumer law protection for Marylanders. Prior to her current position, she served as the Foreclosure Prevention Project Manager, where she oversaw the program, including case assignments to volunteer attorneys, and became an expert in foreclosure matters. Susan is a 2011 graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, and prior to being an attorney, she served several years as a development and communications director in a variety of public interest agencies.
