Nicole Fidler oversees the pro bono program at Sanctuary for Families, a New York-based non-profit organization dedicated to assisting survivors of gender-based violence. Sanctuary works with over 900 pro bono attorneys every year to serve survivors of violence in an array of areas, including family, matrimonial, immigration, housing, public benefits, and criminal advocacy. Nicole is a member of the Public Interest Pro Bono Association (PIPBA) and the New York City Bar Association’s Pro Bono & Legal Services Committee. Prior to joining Sanctuary, Nicole was a litigator at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, representing clients in commercial litigation, bankruptcies, and regulatory investigations. While at Milbank, Nicole was actively involved in pro bono work for a number of organizations, focusing primarily on family law, immigration, and juvenile delinquency petitions. Before joining Sanctuary’s staff, Nicole was a legal extern at Sanctuary, served on Sanctuary’s Pro Bono Council, and co-chaired Sanctuary’s annual Above & Beyond Pro Bono Awards event. In her pre-legal life, Nicole worked in communications and development for the Organization for Autism Research, a national non-profit organization dedicated to funding applied autism research intended to help with the practical challenges face by children and adults with autism.
